Just Because

I was sitting in our studio office this morning, working on homework and upcoming school assignments when I heard the water turn on, and the clanking of dishes. It was my husband, already dressed and ready for work, cleaning the kitchen. I made smoothies while Brian kept washing. We sat at the counter twisting in our bar stools, drinking in the sunshine's warm light and savoring the delicious tart berries for breakfast.

In the quiet of the morning I sat next to him, overfilled with an abundance of gratitude.

Marriage has opened my eyes to a level of joy that I never before had in my life, just thinking about my husband puts a smile on my face. This happiness is not fleeting, it's eternal. Brian is truly one of the most compassionate people that I know, he regularly sacrifices, and is often serving. It's not just in the washing of the dishes, it's not just switching the loads of laundry when I have completely forgotten that I started it in the first place, it's not just being my complete confidante and constant supporter. It's everything that he does, and it's everything that he is.

This morning I looked at him, and tried to describe with my feeble words just how much I love him. I feel as though sometimes the words, "I love you" barely scratch the surface in my marriage, they feel understated, they feel incapable to truly describe how deeply my love runs for my sweet husband. I started to stumble, finding it hard to accurately describe, and then in all it's beautiful simplicity Brian smiled at me with his crinkled eyed smile said, "You are my dream come true."

This is a morning I never want to forget, just because.
